Get Your Club a Qlubb?
The web is not just for virtual community, of course, but the complexities of creating a genuine social media environment for an organization can be a challenge. Ning is an option in this space, and we've talked about them here before. They offer a way to wrap a classic social media environment and fill it with your specific content.
But today I want to tell you about
It's (at least in my opinion) significantly easier to get started and operate a Qlubb than, say, a Facebook group, so that may well extend their reach into communities and organizations that AREN'T inherently full of webbies.
Since families are one of the club categories, the service has the potential for a fairly broad reach. This sort of service is one that has long been (badly) filled by the leading photo sharing sites. But because these sites are about 1,000 years behind in integrating 2.0 into their platforms, the window is wide open for a futuristic player like Qlubb.
Qlubb is a free service supported through advertising. Because they have a great deal of info about the type of organization with a Qlubb page, they can offer precise targeting to context and potentially demographics.
Efforts to integrate digital into the lives of more regular people should be applauded because they extend our reach into more lives and enable the benefits of digital to become more dispersed.
Thanks for reading, and don't forget to write.
